Chiesa S. Lorenzo Sonico
La Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Lorenzo a Sonico risulta essere già esistente nel 1419. La notizia è stata ricavata dagli atti di un documento notarile dell’ epoca, e nel 1459 si trasferisce in questa sede anche il fonte battesimale prima localizzato presso l’ antica chiesa di S. Andrea.
Venne in seguito ricostruita nel 1500 circa sul luogo dove prima era posta una antica diaconia‐ospizio, che era stata per secoli sito di rifugio e protezione per pellegrini e viandanti. A testimonianza della dominazione della Famiglia Federici nel paese, nella chiesa parrocchiale si possono ammirare una raffinatissima tomba in marmo di color ceruleo, detto “Bardiglio”, riportante lo stemma gentilizio e il quadro della Madonna del Rosario opera di Virginio Domenighini da Borno, datata 1617 e commissionata dalla famiglia che raffigura il ritratto dei committenti della famiglia Federici.
Tra i dipinti più preziosi si può ammirare anche la tela raffigurante Caino ed Abele, che è stata attribuita a Jacopo Negretti detto Palma il Giovane (1544‐1628).
Il paliotto dell’altare maggiore era uno dei tanti gioielli che ci hanno lasciato gli artisti del legno del XVII secolo. Purtroppo è stato recentemente derubato dei dodici apostoli e degli angioletti sparsi e sospesi un pò ovunque. Per fortuna è rimasto nel centro il Martirio di S. Lorenzo, che necessita di un pronto restauro, ma che ancora mostra tutta la sua bellezza.
Il Picini, che l’ha scolpito, ha creato un forte contrasto tra l’espressione di classica serenità del santo e la carica di odio dei brutti ceffi tutt’intorno.
Il Martirio è ora protetto da un vetro, ma se avete con voi una grossa pila o se vi fate aiutare dal parroco, potrete osservarlo attentamente e goderne a pieno. La chiesa di S.Lorenzo fu ampliata nel 1600 e contiene diverse altre tele del 1500 e del 1600 e una preziosa tela raffigurante i Santi Carlo e Rocco dipinta da Gerolamo Troiano nel 1640. Sono presenti anche, a ringraziamento e memoria dei sopravvissuti alla peste, sopra un altare degli ex voto contro il flagello mortale.
The Parish Church of St. Lawrence in Sonico appears to be already in existence in 1419, information obtained by the acts of a notarial document of those years, and in 1459 moved here also the first baptismal font located at the old church of S. The Picini, who has carved, has created a strong contrast between the expression of classical serenity of the holy and the burden of hatred of the ugly mugs around. The Martyrdom is now protected by glass, but if you carry a big stack or if you do help the parish priest, you can carefully observe and enjoy them fully. The church of S. Lorenzo was enlarged in 1600 and contains several other paintings of the 1500 and 1600 and a valuable painting of the Saints Charles and Rocco painted by Jerome Troiano in 1640. There are also, thanks and memories of survivors of the plague, on an altar of the former vote against the deadly scourge.
